Hawthorn Farm Organic Seeds

Hawthorn Farm Organic Seeds

Last Saturday I met Stacy and Karen at the London Seed Exchange. It exseeded (heh heh) expectations! Seriously – it was a small, yet mighty show and I will plan on attending next year again for sure. There were seeds available for purchase from a number of different vendors (OSC, Hawthorn and many, many more), Horner Lilies was also there from Thorndale selling lilies, Seeds of Diversity was there and of course there was a seed exchange table. There were a number of open lectures hosted by The London Middlesex Master Gardeners, that you had the option of attending – if you could squeeze in, as they were definitely popular and jam packed! You may recall that I posted about all of the seeds I bought online a couple weeks ago that had arrived (see here.), but I could not restrain myself at the London Seed Show, and of course I ended up purchasing many more seeds! For the record – I think Stacy and Karen bought way more than I did (seed addicts!). :,,) I have no idea how I am going to grow all of these, but I can now add to my growing list: Sunflower (teddy bear dwarf) Sunflower Mix (bird seed) Orca Bush Beans – these are beans that look like a ying and yang symbol or an Orca Whale Apple Gourds – gourds in the shape of huge apples – how cool? Kweik – this is a butternut lettuce Dutchess Blue Ice Aster (a flower) Many of the seeds I purchased were from Hawthorn Farm Organic Seeds. Hawthorn Farm is an organic farm that is located in Palmerston, Ontario. I looked up Hawthorn Farms and it looks so cool! Check out their website: www.hawthornfarm.ca and their Picasa Web Album that has all kinds of amazing farm pictures to get you all inspired about the upcoming grow season. I am told that they have a straw bale home on the property. They also sell jams, jellies, herbs and vegetables. Who wants to go on a tour this summer with me?  Read More
