La La Lamb Burgers
Photo: Kelly Hunt I was making my “becoming quite famous” lamb burgers last night and as we were sitting down to eat them, the sun began to set. It was another crazy filled day of putting the garden in. I am a graphic designer and not a landscaper – so you can just imagine what kinds of muscles are screaming at me every time I lift a shovel and haul an assortment of plants from here to there. Anyways, we were just about to dig into the lamb burgers and voila, perfect moment hit, beer in hand, as I said, the sun was setting and as it did – it hit the burgers on the deck with ferocious beauty. So, just before the burger went into my DH”s mouth I shouted “Wait! look at how fantastic those look, and so local! I gotta grab the camera!” Photo: Kelly Hunt Local Organic LambTo the knitty gritty here – these lamb burgers are made with local organic lamb – which is a lot more common than you think around here. You will need to venture out of the grocery store for this – as I only ever see the New Zealand variety at all of the stores. I am the offspring of an Irish woman and when I was small she used to slip lamb into the regular dinner fare alot – I did not like it, at all! The smell of it cooking, and the taste of it did just not sit well with me. My tastes have changed alot since since, but I will say that I think this lamb is different, and if you are new to lamb, try a lamb burger first. This particular lamb is the London/Lucan area variety. It can be purchased at Saunders Family Farm, it is organic and so tasty. You can even say hello to the lambs while you are there!
